Jami also does custom work using any special embroideries or materials that you have in your closets and would like to see enjoyed again. Many people have been touched to receive gifts of pillows using grandma’s or mother’s handiwork. They make unique and memorable wedding, birthday, mother’s day, or graduation gifts. Please inquire.

I coudn’t resist “rescuing” these items when I considered the hours of work and love these women must have put into creating them. I wanted to create new ways to use things that are no longer needed or used like dresser scarves, tea towels, or antimassacars. Even the craftsmanship of manufactured items stand out in comparison to today: real shell and bone buttons, detailed bakelite and plastic buttons, and ribbons made with cotton, silk and rayon.

Along the way, I began to embrace the philosophy inherent when working with older materials of “reuse and recycle” more completely.

Thus, old felted wool sweaters became purses and pillows, cupboard doors became chalk and memo boards and small ceramic containers became delicate pin cusions.
